July 2016 Mission Trip to Poland

From July 1-11, a group of teenagers (and their leaders) traveled from Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas to Poland for a short-term mission trip. During the trip, the group visited Auschwitz, Cracow and Wroclaw.

They also participated in Slot Art Festival, which is an alternative cultural festival organized by Christians addressed to non-Christians. Slot is held in an old monastery (Lubiaz Abbey), which is in the small town of Lubiaz near Wroclaw. This annual event is a cultural phenomenon filled with workshops, concerts, parties, films and lectures. Every year, approximately seven thousand visitors come from all over Poland and abroad. They are attracted to the place by an exceptional atmosphere of creativity, open-mindedness and joy. Artists, musicians, and workshop leaders share the Gospel through their art, thus making it a perfect platform for evangelism.

Missionaries from FBC had the opportunity to serve as volunteers at Slot Art Festival. They worked in the cafes, the depot storage area, with the security staff as well as other activities. Also, they participated in meetings with several outstanding people: Andrzej Horyza – an organizer of Slot Art Festival, Tomasz Soin – an inventor of a missionary project Wayout, and Michal Rassek – a composer and a producer of Christian worship music.
