Events of the EST Educational Center
Conferences, lectures and more: Conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops, concerts, festivals and special training activities are integral aspects of the teaching and training developed and offered at EST over the last two decades. These events and activities continue to be essential activities of the EST Educational Center (EST EC). Also, in recent years, EST has regularly organized and/or participated in several annual events, which are listed below. Also, throughout the year the EST academic teachers travel to various churches in Poland for public lectures, sermons, teaching in the various centers of the Open Academy of Theology and for recruitment of students for the B.A. program. These events and activities make it possible to serve outside of the school and outside of Wroclaw and also allow Christians throughout Poland to become familiar with the school’s EST EC.
January – Week of Prayer for Unity of Christians: EST participates in this annual international event, which is organized in Wroclaw by the Polish Ecumenical Council. The participants attend services for sermons, lectures, prayer and fellowship at different churches in Wroclaw, including a service at EST.
May – Festival of Protestant Culture: In May 2009, EST organized the first Festival of Protestant Culture in Wroclaw, Poland. Wroclaw has a rich Protestant heritage, which has been generally unknown, especially for the last sixty years. The purpose of the festival is to broaden the city’s knowledge of its past and stimulate ecumenical dialogue and understanding. Numerous churches and para-church organizations now cooperate to bring together a wide variety of events in this multi-day event. More information about these events since May 2009 can be found under the webpage, ‘Festival of Protestant Culture’.
September – Lower Silesian Science Festival: This event is annually organized by the universities in Wrocław, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and non-academic institutions. The festival is available for anyone interested in science, technology, culture and art. EST has participated in this festival for the last several years and it provides an opportunity for individuals, potential students, and others to attend lectures at EST, meet the faculty and staff and become familiar with the school.
October/November – Days of Reformation: This annual event began in 2009 and celebrates the anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. The program for this event includes: ecumenical services, lectures, concerts, movies (e.g. Amazing Grace) followed by a panel discussion, and other opportunities to interact with people from different denominations.
